Canon HG10 AV... Features

Make the most of the HG10's HDD and store up to 15 hours of brilliant High Definition video. Lightweight, portable and packed with features, never worry about running out of recording space again.
The HV20 is easy to use and delivers the high level of performance you've come to expect from Canon. It's the premium quality High Definition camcorder that sophisticated and discerning videographers have been waiting for.
Full HD 1080 video recorded to HDD
The stylishly compact HG10 records High Definition (HD) movies straight to Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Storing more memories in Full HD 1080 quality (AVCHD), you’ll never run out of recording space.

Canon Full HD CMOS
Let HD movies bring memories to life. The HG10 uses a Canon Full HD CMOS video sensor, with advanced noise reduction technology and an RGB Primary Colour Filter - for sharp, noise-free video and vivid colours.

Canon HD Video Lens
Canon camcorders inherit the expertise of the world’s biggest maker of broadcast lenses. Incorporating a Super Range Optical Image Stabilizer, the HG10’s 10x optical zoom lens is specifically designed for HD - for unrivalled image quality.

Instant AF
Instant AF helps ensure movies and photos are always in focus. By using two sensors - one for speed, one for absolute accuracy - Instant AF makes shooting HD video easier and keeps digital photos free from blur. The Focus Assist function aids manual focusing.

15 hours of video, hundreds of photos
The extra capacity of an HDD lets you record for longer: store up to 15 hrs of HD video. The HG10 is also a fully-featured digital camera - 3.1MP photos are saved to MiniSD card.

DIGIC DV II for HD
DIGIC DV II is the HG10’s brain. Specifically designed by Canon for HD, it can shoot movies and still images at the same time. Video and photos are processed independently, ensuring that both appear in superb colour.

Intuitive controls
An intuitive Navigation Control Dial provides quick and easy access to key functions. Playing back video is effortless: scroll through a list of recordings or select a scene from the thumbnail menu to instantly review movies on the 2.7" Multiangle Vivid LCD screen.

Quick Start and extended battery life
At the push of a button, Quick Start powers up the camcorder from Standby mode almost instantly. The HG10’s battery provides over an hour of recording on a single charge.

All the connections you need
Capture enhanced audio with an external microphone and monitor sound recording more closely via the headphone jack; an Advanced Accessory shoe lets you attach a range of other peripherals. When you’ve finished recording, connect to a TV using HDMI or a PC via USB. PictBridge makes it easy to print photos.

Software
A supplied Corel Application Disc provides software for easy editing and management of AVCHD movies on a PC.
At the same time, the HV20 gives you the flexibility to record in SD (standard definition) mode, too. That means you can enjoy the ultimate in HD video and photo quality, and still shoot SD video for viewing on your non-HD equipment.

The HV20 comes with an outstanding High Definition video lens -- a 10x Genuine Canon Optical zoom. It's the lens you need to record long shots of your child on the soccer field, wide shots of beautiful landscapes, and everything in-between. And because it comes with three pre-set zoom speeds, you always get smooth, steady, professional looking zoom shots.

Super spectra coating technology results in images with minimal flare and ghosting. Plus, the new lens' aspheric design reduces aberration and increases resolution, ensuring crisp, sharp video and enhancing the HD image quality. Not only that, but a new gradation ND system gives you better exposures in bright shooting situations.

Compared to a CCD, the HV20's CMOS's high color resolution and advanced color reproduction gives brilliant results. It is also unique in featuring Canon's proprietary noise reduction technologies for crisp, sharp images. Low noise technology also means that even in dimly lit scenes, the signal from each pixel is as pure as possible, with minimal noise or other aberrations. It's the ideal sensor for HD.

The HV20 uses an RGB Primary Color Filter with Bayer Pattern that separates light into red, green and blue color components. This results in vibrant images with deep, rich, accurate color and natural-looking tones similar to what you'd obtain from 3 CCD camcorders. In addition, the Bayer pattern that delivers sharp, high definition image without creating false colors. As an added benefit, the CMOS sensor provides outstanding image capture in low light conditions.

Thanks to DIGIC DV II image processing, the HV20 produces video with improved color reproduction -- especially in skin tones, and dark and light scenes. It also uses a hybrid noise reduction system that employs two types of noise reduction -- for high definition images that are crystal clear.

Canon's innovative Super-Range OIS combines gyro- and image-sensors to give image stabilization through a wider range of camera motions. Some image stabilization systems correct one type of camera motion or vibration better than another. But Canon's Super-Range OIS corrects for a wide range of camcorder motion: the fast vibration you'd experience while recording from a moving car; the medium-speed motion of hand-held recording; and the slower motion of body sway. No matter what you're recording and how you're recording it, the HV20's stabilization design corrects camcorder shake instantly. Super-Range OIS also delivers steady images when shooting at long focal lengths.

In addition, optical stabilization keeps your shot steady without a loss in image quality -- something that can't be said for electronic image stabilization. And image stabilization isn't just for video; you can even use it for taking sharper, clearer digital photographs with your HV20. Thanks to Canon's expertise, it's easy to eliminate one of the telltale signs of amateur video and photography.
